Space Systems Loral has signed a huge contract with The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The cont
7/20/2016: Mars 2020 Rover Mission is big bucks!
NASA's next mission plans, the trip to Mars, is going to leave them with a huge bill. The Mars 2020 Rover is a next level development that will cost NASA about 2.1 billion dollars! This rover has been planed to launch the mid 2020's. Some NASA scientists said that the cost was more expensive than what they were hoping for, and are hoping to recycle some old parts and necessities off "retired" air crafts.
7/15/2016: A Waste of Space?
As we all know, our planet is huge; taking a trip around the whole planet would take months! Now, what if we were to take a trip from our sun, to the planet Neptune. This journey would take more than 15 years to accomplish. But, is our solar system one whole galaxy? In fact, our solar system is about 1/500 of the galaxy that we live in, the Milky Way. Scientists have found over 1.2 million galaxies in an updated astronomical map. It would take more than 600,000,000 copies of our solar system to fill the whole universe!
7/14/2016: Is NASA hiding something? Did NASA cut the live feed of the UFO Sighting on Purpose?
NASA is being accused by Space Conspiracy Theorists. They are accusing NASA for cutting the live feed from the International Space Station just as an object that is unknown appears in the earths atmosphere. With many theories on YouTube about this incident, lots of people have gotten furious over NASA cutting the feed; the people wanted to know more about this exciting occurrence and NASA blocked it. Some say it could have been a meteor; Other say that it could be the life that is in space that we humans have been hunting for.
7/7/2016: 16 million year old planet with 3 Suns has been Found!
People who enjoy the night will dislike and People who enjoy the daytime will enjoy; Exoplanet HD 131399Ab has 3 suns! It is always daytime there, with a triple chance of seeing a sunrise and sunset each day. This planet is about 340 light years away from the sun in the constellation Centaurus. The Exoplanet HD 131399Ab's orbit takes about 550 years, meaning that one season on the planet would be more than a life of the longest human to be alive. It would take approximately 600,000,000 copies of our solar system to equal the total amount of space that is outside of our planet Earth!
7/6/2016: Even after one year into the start of OneWeb, the 700 satellite constellation is surprisingly still running on schedule!
Most of the following information is from a interview summary with Chief Operating Officer Eric de Saintignon
The Satellite Internet startup OneWeb Satellites have completed the beginning designs for the 700 saellite constellation and are saying that they will have the whole subcontractor team ready and committed by early August. The transition for the team he says will be from design to manufacturing. They will build the first production of the first 10 pilot satellites. They will be built at the Airbus Defence and Space production facility. The 10 pilots of the satellites will be launched aboard a Russian rocket in the late 2017s and will be tested before the rest of the satellites are built.
7/5/2016: China has created the largest Radio Telescope in the World!
With China's completion of its massive project of a Radio Telescope, China now owns the largest radio space telescope in the world. The telescope is measured to be a Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope, which is built in the mountains in Southwestern China. The telescope is starting operations in September.
7/4/2016: Mission Juno has landed!
After nearly 5 years of travel since being launched on August 5, 2011, Juno finally reaches orbit around Jupiter! Juno reached at approximately 11:54 pm on July 4, 2016.
Juno is in the orbit of Jupiter for scientific study purposes. In the orbit of Jupiter, Juno will study Jupiter's gravitational field, magnetic field, composition, and the polar magnetosphere. Another purpose of Juno is to find how Jupiter was created, where it was created, and why it was able to move so far away when the big bang occurred. Some scientists had believed that Jupiter had a rocky interior core . Juno will also run tests to see what the core of Jupiter is made out of. Some other tests that Juno will conduct include the harsh winds that are present on Jupiter, the mass distribution of Jupiter that makes the planet the most massive in the solar system, and finally it will also study the water that is present in the atmosphere of Jupiter. The testing of Jupiter will begin in approximately 52 days to give time for the power to regenerate from the solar panels on top of Juno. The equipment will also be ready for testing at that time.
Juno isn't the first probe to reach orbit around Jupiter; Galileo was the first probe and it orbited Jupiter from 1995-2003.
